Kennedy Museum - Celebrate the Life of a Legendary Figure

The Kennedy museum in Dallas or the Sixth floor Museum in Dealey Plaza stands out as a prime attraction signifying the life and untimely death of a much loved American President. Though the museum arouses a profound sadness in many who visit the site, it was constructed with the objective of celebrating the life of this legendary figure. This has become successful as many describe visiting the museum as an overwhelming experience.

The museum was built on the sixth floor as it was the same floor from which Lee Harvey Oswald shot the president. The permanent exhibits of the museum are displayed under many themes. The Early 1960's consists of an introduction and details of the political events and lifestyles of that period. Other exhibits are displayed accordingly under relevant themes such as The Trip to Texas, The Corner Window, and The Crisis Hours etc.

The museum also has a valuable artifact collection and archive materiel which was collected at various phases of the President's crisis. The Parkland Hospital Collection has all the original medical records and autopsy records of the President while the Tom Dillard collection consists of original negatives of photographs of the president and Mrs Kennedy, Marina Oswald and Oswald's two daughters. These images have not been published and can only be viewed at the Kennedy Museum. Other collections include the Dallas Time Herald Collection, Julia Knecht Collection and the KDFV, KTVT and WFAA collections. All these 22, 000 items consist of books, newspapers, photographs, magazines, video and audio tapes, and other documentary materials.

An array of hotels in Dallas near the Kennedy Museum provides easy access to this key attraction which should not be missed. As described by many it would be an inspiring and a profound experience signifying a journey back to the past.

its all over now babyish dejected - them

You must leave now, take what you need, you think will last. But whatever you wish to keep, you better grab it fast. Yonder stands your orphan with his gun, Crying like a fire in the sun. Look out the saints are comin' through And it's all over now, Baby Blue. The highway is for gamblers, better use your sense. Take what you have gathered from coincidence. The empty-handed painter from your streets Is drawing crazy patterns on your sheets. This sky, too, is folding under you And it's all over now, Baby Blue. All your seasick sailors, they are rowing home. All your reindeer armies, are all going home. The lover who just walked out your door Has taken all his blankets from the floor. The carpet, too, is moving under you And it's all over now, Baby Blue. Leave your stepping stones behind, something calls for you. Forget the dead you've left, they will not follow you. The vagabond who's rapping at your door Is standing in the clothes that you once wore. Strike another match, go start anew And it's all over now, Baby Blue. - bob dylan, 1965

Something Different

Here is something i have been thinking about doing for over a year now. As you all know, i am a Duran Duran fan, and as such i have many of their singles. In one of the singles i have, track number 3 stroke me right away and this song has been in my life ever since. Through the years i tried to figure out a way to express my impressions of this song, so this weekend me and my sister put together this humble representation i had in my mind. Something definetly different, and i am looking foward to see what you guys think...i just hope i dont get in trouble for this ;D Lyrics: When your nine day feed is up And you've drained your loving cup Come stands reeling to the shore When the brave are coming out The dry fight and the dusty shout See you crawling on the floor And diamond stars shine glitter bright Gorging your sanhedralite Words are falling to the floor Glands stand pouring fruit tree Now they glisten on the waterline See how you are at the shore I'm moving chrissie pretty flowers in the shutter maze Haul up all your petty desires Leave it lying down before Wash away the rusty disease Of your brown town days in our silver sea Leave it dying at the door Feather yell you've time to leave Open out your arms and breathe

Plastic Adirondack Chairs

Have you been turned off of the idea of plastic garden furniture by the tacky, mass-produced products that can be purchased cheaply anywhere, but fade after one season? Maybe you should take a second look.

The truth is: plastic garden furniture, such as plastic Adirondack chairs, can be beautiful, natural looking, stylish and may be the perfect option for many people. Furniture constructed out of recycled plastic polymer, as is the case with many plastic Adirondack chairs, is resistant to moisture, corrosives, chlorine, salt water and insects. It is also sturdy and comfortable, and will remain looking new for several years.

If you are not even sure what an Adirondack chair is let alone a plastic Adirondack chair, here is a little history. Adirondack chairs were invented during the early 1900's by a vacationer who was looking for ways to furnish his summer home. By utilizing materials found around his Westport, NY, vacation home, Thomas Lee crafted a unique chair that caught the attention of a local carpenter and would eventually gain widespread popularity. The chair was made out of eleven slats of wood, had wide armrests, and was unique in that both the seat and back angled so that it would sit better on the steep mountain terrain of the Adirondacks.

Identified by a high, angled back and sloping seat, Adirondack chairs are made with comfort in mind, and the plastic Adirondack chair version is no different. The angle and tilt of the chair make it perfect for relaxation, and the wide arms of the chair are ideal for holding your favorite summer drink. After sitting in one of these chairs, it is not hard to imagine a lazy afternoon spent in the outdoors while napping or reading your favorite novel.

And you can find a chair to fit your personality, style and needs. Plastic Adirondack chairs and furniture can be purchased from a wide variety of styles and natural-looking colors. They can be found in the classic Adirondack style, deck chairs, gliders, double rockers, and come with style elements such as shell and curved backs.

Plastic Adirondack chairs feature solid, fade-resistant color. You can choose from colors such as white, sand, dark teak, hunter green and black or a sleek caribbean blue. In some cases, you may even find that plastic Adirondack chairs are more affordable than the exact same chair made with wooden materials. While you can expect to spend around $200 for a chair and sometimes more for different styles, these particular plastic Adirondack chairs will last a lifetime, which make them an investment worth considering.

Whether you are looking for an Adirondack chair to place on a rustic seaside deck or a chair for a formal garden, you may find exactly what you are looking for in among the wide selection of plastic Adirondack chairs.

Can't Stand the Heat? How to Select the Right Type Of Air Conditioner to Cool Your Home

Warm weather has arrived. Now's the time to consider getting a new air conditioner or updating the one you have. Room air conditioners, central air conditioners, and ones in-between all have their purposes. Whether you have heat but need cool air, need an air conditioner for one room, are living in a historical home that needs air conditioning, are on a tight budget or want to go all out--take a look at the types of air conditioners listed below because there is a right unit for you.

Room air conditioners:

They cool rooms and even though are usually noisier and lower in efficiency, also provide lower costs as they are used in rooms only where they are needed--not the whole house.

Window-mounted

-What it is: Small unit designed to fit in a window. Most are made fordouble-hung windows but some are designed for casement windows. Be sure to pick a unit designed for the type of window the consumer has. Most units include a window mounting kit, which will have sill brackets to support the unit and side vents that make an airtight fit for the window.

-Advantages: Purchase several and can adjust each room's temperature to individual preferences. Can be removed easily and stored when the season changes.

-Disadvantages: Give up having a view from the window. Must be removed or winterized when cooler weather hits

Through-the-wall

-What it is: Usually used to cool a single room. Functions like a window air conditioner, only is permanently mounted through the wall.

-Advantages: Window is not blocked. Don't have to remove and store during cooler weather.

-Disadvantages: Not easy to install in a pre-existing home. Has to be installed in an area where there is no electric or pipes running through the walls. May have problems cutting the hole if walls are made of concrete, stone or brick. Unit is hard to hide during the winter months. During the colder months, has to be sealed off to keep cold air from coming in the house

Free standing portable

-What it is: A unit about 30 inches tall and 80 pounds in weight that stands on the floor. May be single or dual vent. Dual vent units circulate clean air back into the room and will usually cool the air quicker. Most have wheels, giving the consumer the ability to move them around. Must be connected to a place like a window where the hot air from the unit can be vented. Most units have window-venting kits, that can be moved from one window to another and that are easy to install.

-Advantages: Portable meaning they can be moved from room to room. Window-mounting not required. Move the air conditioner from the bedroom to the kitchen to the living room depending on where you are during the day. Many have features where the condensation bin doesn't need to be emptied as frequently, making the unit less of a pain to use and removing moisture from the air in the home, helping to prevent mold. Ability to keep different rooms different temperatures.

-Disadvantages: Costs more that a window-mounted air conditioner with a similar cooling ability level. Similar to central air conditioners.

Mini-split unit

-What it is: Mix between a window air conditioner and a split system. A compressor unit is mounted outside the house and a fan unit is wall-mounted inside the house. The system gets a copper lineset between the outdoor and indoor unit.

-Advantages: They are small and can cool individual rooms. Great for multifamily housing, room additions, rooms over garages and small apartments. The indoor part of the system does not need a window and can be mounted on the floor, hung on the wall, or suspended from the ceiling. Many of the systems even offer a remote control to turn the system on and off. Not noisy since the compressor goes outside.

-Disadvantages: They are more expensive than room air conditioners. Don't have the built-in look of a central air conditioner unit.

Mini-duct unit

-What it is: They are specially-designed systems for tight spaces, where running conventional duct work is impossible. Forces air through plastic feeder ducts just 2 inches in diameter.

-Advantages: Good for historical homes where duct work wasn't considered when the home was built. Minimizes renovation costs by keeping walls and ceilings intact. Not noisy. Use about half the air of a conventional air conditioning system.

-Disadvantages: Higher costs to install the system because they require more outlets, about 5 outlets per ton of cooling.

Central air conditioners:

Aside from being more efficient than room air conditioners, central air conditioners are out of the way, not noisy, and convenient to operate.

Single-package unit

-What it is: Everything (evaporator coil, compressor, condenser coil, blower motor, and controls with the exception of the thermostat) located in one metal cabinet box. Sits outside of the house. Each room in the house gets cold air via a duct system.

-Advantages: Get this system and you won't need a separate furnace indoors.

-Disadvantages: More expensive and complex to install.

Split-system unit

-What it is: The air handler (inside) and condensing unit (outside) have a copper lineset running between them to connect the condenser to the evaporator. They usually share control voltage, but have separate circuits for line voltage power. Each room in the house gets cold air via a duct system.

-Advantages: Makes more economical sense to install if your home already has a heating system but no air conditioner.

-Disadvantages: More expensive and complex to install.

Bamboo Flooring - The Natural Choice

There are many floor selections available today that claim to be virtually indestructible or classically beautiful. Only one can claim to be both of those plus be the most natural choice - literally.

Bamboo floors are made from bamboo in Asia. The bamboo was considered a waste product for centuries, but now is being used for beautification, and your home may be next. It is beautiful and comes in as many colors as hardwoods with various grains and textures. It is also extremely durable thanks to bamboo's natural properties and the special process used to create it.

Highly Functional

A bamboo floor is highly functional. It is sturdy and easy to install. The process used to create the floor compacts the layers of material into a hard, durable product. It is then laminated to seal it together. The end product is highly water resistant, although not waterproof, and can withstand a great deal of foot traffic.

Bamboo flooring is often compared to hardwood floors, but is probably closer to laminate for functionality. It is only slightly less water resistant than the laminate, which is actually a completely manufactured product, and just as durable underfoot. Of course, the bamboo flooring is considerably more attractive than laminate.

Classically Beautiful

A laminate floor is easy to distinguish from real hardwood. It is often a choice for homes with high traffic or a more limited budget. Bamboo flooring is more comparable to hardwood when it comes to grains and appearance. Bamboo floors are made from natural materials, so they are naturally beautiful.

Hardwood might be considered the most classically beautiful floors by traditional definitions, but that may change. Bamboo on the other hand is fresh in appearance and comes in both light and dark tones. It is hardy and stands the test of time. Of course it is relatively new to the floor covering marketplace, at least in the Western world, so there simply hasn't been time for bamboo to take its place among the more classical flooring selections.

Economical by Nature

Because bamboo floors are made from very easily renewable resources, it is simple to find and harvest. The harvesting process is relatively simple as well. Combined with the ease of treating and the refining process the sheer abundance of bamboo makes a very economical price for the flooring. In short, a bamboo floor is less expensive than comparable alternatives.

The Natural Choice

Bamboo is not only inexpensive and durable, it is the most eco-friendly product available. It is created from weeds and the raw materials are replanted easily in a very short amount of time. The process to manufacture the floor is easy on the chemicals and by not burning the bamboo as farmers have done for centuries, the atmosphere is spared the chemicals and ozone.

It is rare that a product comes along that is beautiful, durable and attractively priced. But bamboo has done exactly that and managed to be environmentally sound as well. Bamboo flooring will continue to grow in popularity as more realize exactly how attractive it is on all fronts.

Solid Wood Furniture Turns a House Into a Home

Solid wood furniture is magic. Let me explain.

I once lived in an empty apartment. I had a coffee table, a TV stand, a computer desk, and an air mattress. That was it.

Then I started dating, and eventually my girlfriend moved in. With her, came all her stuff. Sofas, chairs, and tables, she brought everything. Suddenly, my empty apartment came alive with character I didn't know it had.

As I grew older, I've learned that solid wood furniture especially provides a certain charm that no other type of furniture can. There's a certain appeal and warmth there that can transform an empty space into a comfortable, homey environment.

Most people I know now spend more time considering how to furnish their homes than they did on buying the home itself. I even have a few friends who are interior designers who only deal with furniture that's solid wood.

I asked them why, and they all tell me that this kind of furniture is so dependable, and it's almost universal in its appeal. This is especially true for houses with wood flooring. One of my designer friends even had an oak dining table custom built. It's literally the first thing you notice when you walk into her house.

If you can afford it, I'd insist on solid wood only. There are several reasons why, but to me it's always been a show of integrity. Yes, you can buy wood veneer that's glued to particle board that looks almost as good as wood furniture, but I doubt you'll be able to hand it down to your grandkids many years from now.

MegaMan8 - Part13 (Vs. Hyper Bass and Green Devil)

Wily 3 has two bosses, so this is a short stage. Bass gets his revenge on Mega Man in the middle of the stage, absorbing Evil Energy and combining with his wolf partner Treble (in spite of Mega Man's warning about the Evil Energy). Because he is hyped on Evil Energy, I am calling him Hyper Bass. Hyper Bass has three attacks: he will make purple fireballs fall downward (just like Astro Crush), shoot two charged Bass Buster shots, and zap the ground halfway with purple lightning. I don't know what his weakness is supposed to be in Mega Man 8, so I went with the Mega Buster (I am using the Mega Laser for precision; you can buy the Mega Laser adaptor at Dr. Light's Lab.). Bass says he won't give up and teleports away. Mega Man incorrectly says "Bass. Why you don't understand?" (It's supposed to be "Why don't you understand?".) After Bass disappears, Mega Man eventually runs into Green Devil, the green gelatinous version of Yellow Devil. Green Devil is controlled by an electrical eye that manupulates the green jelly. It has three attacks. It may divide into 12 pieces and move to the opposite end of the room, one piece at a time. The second attack is where the eye creates a green wave that rolls across the screen. The final attack is where the eye sends the green jelly under the floor and thrusts up green spikes to poke Mega Man. The way to beat Green Devil is to peel back the jelly around the eye and shoot the eye directly. You can completely expose the eye with Flash Bomb and ...

Flooring With Precision - A Look at Hand Scraped Hardwood Floors

Several home owners consider it to be a mark of classical elegance in maintaining hand scraped hardwood floors in their houses. It stands out as a reflective symbol of grace and poise, adorning the beauty of the house. The flooring structure has a few distinct advantages of being strong and durable, which can stand the test of time as well as add an aesthetic value to the home. Best of all, it blends completely with the surrounding ambiance, creating a sensation of palatial architecture, which is the dream of every home owner. Such a form of flooring is expensive, but most owners are willing to shell out the money to maintain a sense of exclusivity that makes their home the envy of everyone's eyes.

The flooring design might be a treat to the eyes, but creating such a perfect structural pattern is a cumbersome job in itself, needing professional expert services. One major problem with hardwood floors is their ability to spoil extremely quickly if the wood is of low quality. Such floors might be affordable in the overall scale, but cracks would soon start to pile up and damage the entire house, ruining the floor with sandy remains and sawdust.

An ominous creaking sound is the first sign of a damaged floor and a major concern for every owner. It is best to always be in touch with a proper hand scraped hardwood flooring service that truly understands the basic floor design of your house and can build or refinish it whenever needed.

The essential requirement of every home owner wanting hardwood flooring in their house is to contact a proper flooring service agency. Such an agency has several options and arrangements based on the architectural patterns of different houses. Most agencies comprise of a compact and technically proficient team who understand the build design of hand scraped wood floors and how it can be implemented to the owner's satisfaction.

Several floor consultants work with the owner at every stage to take valuable customer feedback and work on floor design based on individual needs. What sets such agencies apart is the high quality of materials used that allow floors to have a spotless finish and remain strong for a lifetime without any maintenance.

One of the strong benefits of home owners is the availability of several local agencies in their places offering special services like the companies who deal with hand scraped wood flooring in Utah. Most of them have great craftsmanship and do their work with a lot of dedication and patience providing a complete flooring solution to match every need.

The latest technology and equipment is used for fast and effective refinishing work while one has the option of several additional services at extremely nominal extensions. Several agencies have extended their services to other areas like Salt Lake City too to help maintain quality hand scraped hardwood floors to home owners there.

Sleeping With The Enemy Chapter 25 *MARATHON*

GotUDazed origianl :) Marathon 12/15 25 - Beaten and Broken Aubrey It was eight - thirty when Kevin called to tell us about his immunity in the case of The Association and my kidnapping. It was now midnight, where was he? I couldn't stop pacing the dining table as my father sat in his place and clasped his hands together repeatedly. I have called the office and no sign of him; I'm not even going to start on how many times I called his cell. I just couldn't deal with all the anguish I had within me. Aubrey- (facing her father) Dad, where is he? I'm so worried, what if something happened to him? Bernard- Don't worry sweetie everything is fine, he is probably still working on those papers. Let's go to the office and pick him up. (Smiling at her) Aubrey- Okay We hopped into Daddy's Jaguar and sped off into the city. We parked the car in the corner and walked into the building, we took the elevator to the top floor where Kevin's office is, nothing. His jacket was gone, his suitcase, everything. Now I really started to worry. I guess my dad noticed. Bernard- Maybe he just stepped out let's check the parking lot. We took the elevator straight down to the parking lot, during the quick ride down my mind was racing at all the possible things that might have happen to Kevin. I tried to be a bit more positive, maybe dad's right he probably left right now and any moment he will be calling me telling he is on his way. The Importance of HEPA Filters in Your Home

The HEPA air filtration standard requires that 99.97% of airborne particles larger than 0.3 microns be removed from the air by constant filtration. HEPA stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Arrestance, and it is no surprise by the large amount of airborne contamination a HEPA filter traps that it is the highest standard in meeting air quality requirements in both industrial and household settings.

Once dust, contaminates and particles are trapped in a HEPA filter, they are locked in and will not re-enter the air. The only way to remove the caught particles is by removing the filter and washing it. Periodically washing and maintaining your HEPA filter will ensure it can continually be used to trap a high number of air particles. Without cleaning the filter regularly, especially after using in a highly polluted environment, the HEPA filter cannot successfully capture the 99.97% of airborne particles.

HEPA filters are environmentally friendly and will not emit any harmful bi-products into the atmosphere. Other types of air filters, such as ionic air filtration systems, release ozone as they process airflow. Using a HEPA filter will ensure that you are not breathing in or releasing any harmful materials or chemicals.

In home use, HEPA filters can be found in vacuum cleaners, furnaces and air conditioning systems. There are also some floor-fan models that employ HEPA technology to filter the air as it is circulated throughout your house. Some in-home air purifiers and humidifiers also use a HEPA filtration system to remove unwanted particles and toxins from the air in your home.

It is imperative that you create a healthy environment for you family by regularly keeping up with the maintenance and cleaning that go along with using HEPA air filters. Be sure to look after any appliance that uses filters, especially furnaces and air conditioners. It is recommended you change those filters at least once every two months to ensure maximum filtration in your home's airflow.

An improved air quality standard in your home can be beneficial to your health. If you suffer from allergies, you know the importance of breathing air free of pollen, dust, pet dander and other irritants. A HEPA air filtration system can remove those particles from the air at a greater efficiency than other filters and improve your quality of life.

It is important to mention, also, that some products on the market today claim to be "HEPA Type" or "HEPA Like". These filters do not remove 99.97% of harmful airborne particles with a diameter larger than 0.3 microns. They can remove as much as 95%, which may sound like a significant number, but can be misleading especially if you are prone to allergies or are using the filter in an environment with a lot of airborne contaminates.

Use HEPA technology to virtually eliminate and trap all airborne particles from entering the airflow of your home. You'll immediately notice the difference.

In The Arms Of An Angel (Jemi)Ep.18;[S.1]

Joe-*Grimaced.* Can I ask you something? Demi-Yeah. *She spoke quietly.* Joe-What are you going to do, if you become famous, but he never notices? What if he doesn't come back? What are you going to do? Demi-*She looks down.*... I'd ask you to take my life already... Joe-*His eyes buldged out but then he composed his face.*And I'd say No. Demi-Why? Joe-Cuz, in my point of view, don't get mad alright? What your feeling for him isn't exactly "Love" just an obsession.. And saying you'd want your life to end just because he doesn't notice you, is kind of... crazy. Demi-*Pulls back. Her eyes were teary. She glares at him.* It is love and it isn't crazy that I'd rather die if he didn't come back! I Love him and he loves me. *She shakes her head angrily. Bites her lip and sucks in a deep breath to hold back the tears. She looks down and turns around walking to the after party.* Joe-*Sighs in frustration.* Demi I--- Demi-Don't talk to me. *Went inside.* Joe-Ugh!!!! *Sits down on the ground frustrated and angry.* I'm such a jackass. -At the party Demi stayed quiet. Taking pictures occasionally with fake smiles. She drank and ate little. When everyone were into the party distracted, she made her way out from the front doors and saw a path leading into a small forest. She followed it up untill she got onto a hill. There was a log, so she sat down and looked up at the setting sky. She heard some girl's giggleing. When she looked to her left she saw a group of five young girls. One ...

Hard Wood Floor Cleaning - Hardness Matters

When it comes to hard wood floor cleaning and refinishing, many people simply don't understand the differences. The first step in preserving the beauty and luster of hardwood flooring is to know what type of wood was used and the proper method of cleaning and caring for the floor.

One of the best places to begin is by understanding wood floor hardness. As a general rule of thumb, the higher the traffic area the harder the wood should be but keep in mind, maintenance and general care also make a big impact on the longevity of a wood floor. Here to help sort things out is a basic primer on the hardness of your hard wood floor with some of the most frequently asked questions or areas of confusion surrounding the care and cleaning of hard wood floors.

Fact: Hardness is not strength! Don't confuse the hardness of a wood with the strength or feel of the wood. Hardness is simply how well it will resist damage from scratching, punctures or pressure.

Fact: Manufacturer Matters. The hardness of a wood depends upon the type of tree used to create the wood and the manufacturer. Although most woods of the same species will exhibit similar hardness qualities, there will still be variations between two different manufacturers based upon how the flooring was created, what chemicals were used, thickness and other variables.

Fact: There is a wood for every room. Not sure what types of woods go where? Use softer woods for areas with less traffic and harder woods for areas that will need to hold up to more wear and tear. For example North American Cherry is a beautiful wood but very soft with a hardness rating of only 950. Natural bamboo comes in at 1410 while Brazilian Teak stands out at an impressively dense 3500 rating! Many exotic hard woods are not only beautiful but extremely dense and resistant to damage - but keep in mind many are endangered and contribute to the destruction of the local ecology.

Fact: Red Oak is a versatile choice. Most old floors used red oak and still look great even though they have a hardness rating of only 1260 on average. With proper care and preservation any floor can look great for many years to come.

Fact: Fort Worth wood floor cleaning and Hardwood floor cleaning doesn't need to cost a lot. Hire a reputable company with a nationwide reputation like Kiwi Services to clean, repair and preserve your hard wood floors. Properly performed cleaning and preservation not only keeps floors looking great but prolongs the life of your investment for years to come.

Beds For Baby

Moses Baskets

Moses Baskets are generally made from palm, strong maize, or wicker, and provide a secure and cozy environment for your baby to sleep in. Wicker baskets are the most expensive type of Moses basket, although they tend to be more durable. All Moses baskets normally come with a padded cotton lining and quilt, thin foam mattress, fabric-covered hood, and carry handles to enable you to move baby around with you. They can be placed directly onto the floor, or put on a special stand, although these stands are rarely included in the price and are generally purchased separately.

Cribs

Cribs provide a slightly larger sleeping environment for a young baby than a Moses basket and are usually made of wood, with two or more slated sides. They have the additional feature of a rocking or swinging action, and are usually bought flat-packed.

Carrycots

If your pram and pushchair has a carrycot, you can also use this as your baby's first bed. They have a carry handle for lifting. Stand-alone carrycots can also be found in specialist mail-order catalogues and websites.

Baby Hammocks

Baby hammocks are available from specialist websites and mail order catalogues. The hammock looks like a sling and comes with a metal frame from which the baby cradle hangs. It is designed to mimic the feeling of support and security provided in utero, and the hammock can be gently rocked to soothe your baby to sleep. The head of the baby is slightly elevated in the hammock, which is ideal for babies who suffer with reflux, and the hammock's rocking motion can ease symptoms of colic too. The hammock comes complete with sheets, a mattress, and mattress cover.

Cots

A cot is the most popular choice, and is likely to be your baby's main bed until they are at least two or three years old, and should be strong and sturdy for this reason. Cots are generally made from wood, and come in all different shapes, sizes, and costs, so it is best to look around before buying. As well as the traditional rectangular shaped cots, you can also buy oval shaped cots that convert into junior beds, and corner shaped cots that fit neatly into the corner of a room. In addition, bedside cots which have a removable side and stand right next to your own bed, to allow you easy access to your baby for night-time feeding.

Cots usually come with a drop-side mechanism, which allows one of the side railings to be lowered to make it easier for you to lift baby in and out. They also have an adjustable base height, where the base can be lowered as your baby grows older. There are normally three base heights to chose from, the highest position being suited to a newborn or young baby, and the lowest being appropriate once your baby is old enough to start sitting and pulling themselves up. Another feature is a protective plastic coating around the edges of the cot sides to allow your child to gnaw on the rail when teething, without damaging the cot. Cot mattresses are not normally included with the cot and must be purchased separately.

Cot Beds

Cot beds are longer and wider than standard cots, and have removable sides which convert it into a junior bed once your child grows out of the cot. Mattresses are not normally included in the price.

Laminate Flooring - How is it Made

Are you looking for that picture perfect floor to make your new living room look great? Laminate floors are an ever more popular and affordable choice for homeowners that want a floor that looks great and stands up to the kind of abuse an active family can dish out. Over the past two decades, advances in manufacturing technology have brought laminate flooring out of the realms of 'cheap alternative'. Today's laminates are versatile, durable and virtually indistinguishable from the 'real thing'.

The 'real thing' that laminate floors duplicate is most often hardwood flooring, but the manufacturing process for laminates allows for endless possibilities of patterns and materials. Because the actual pattern of the floor is an image embedded beneath a crystal clear protective coating, laminate flooring can look like oak or cherry, fine terracotta or ceramic, or even marble or flagstone. With the development of high-tech imaging processes and materials, laminate floors are rapidly becoming known as the best choice of flooring for any active family.

Four Layer Construction - Stability, Versatility, Durability and Beauty
The secret of the durability and beauty of laminate floors lies in the manufacturing processes and materials used for creating them. A sheet of laminate floor consists of four layers that are bonded together using a combination of pressure and heat. Each layer serves a specific purpose in the construction.

Layer 1: The Back Layer

Laminate floors are designed to be laid over an existing floor without being attached to it. The back layer of a laminate floor is usually made of melamine, a tough, waterproof acrylic that helps protect the core layer of the floor from moisture damage. This means that laminate flooring can be used in areas that aren't recommended for wood and other types of floors that can't stand up to damage.

Layer 2: The Inner Core

Between the back layer and the decorative layer is a resilient fiberboard core. The material that's used for the core varies slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer. The fiberboard is pressed together to create a dense, resilient center that gives laminate flooring the 'spring' that distinguishes it from hardwood or stone floors. The fiberboard is subjected to either pressure or a combination of pressure and heat to give it added strength.

Layer 3: The Decorative Layer

This is the layer that gives laminate floors their well-deserved reputation as 'great pretenders'. It's a highly detailed photograph of the natural surface desired that is bonded to the inner core. The most popular 'surface' is wood, as wood grains render beautifully in photographs, but more and more often, the photo is of stone or tile. The pattern or design that may be used is limited only by the floor designer's imagination. Four or five years back, you'd have had to look hard to find anything but wood - but these days you'll find dozens of other styles available that mimic the look of anything from Grecian marble to fieldstone to terracotta tile.

The Wear Layer

The top layer of a laminate floor is called the wear layer - for obvious reasons. In high end products, aluminum oxide is the most commonly used top surface. Similar to the laminated top of a counter like Formica, the laminate layer used by most floor manufacturers is up to 40% stronger than countertop laminates. It may be up to several milliliters thick, and it resists staining, moisture, burns, fading - nearly any abuse you can give it. The wear layer is what protects the floor, keeping it looking brand new for years.

Putting It All Together

The design layer is fused to the inner core first, either using heat and pressure, or just pressure. The fused layers are then bonded to the melamine backing the same way. The wear layer goes on last, before the laminate flooring material goes through a final fusing. The material is cut into planks or blocks - which is what the end user will buy at the store. The planks may range from less than an inch in width to almost a foot, and are edged with tongue and groove construction so that the pieces of a floor can be fitted together just like a puzzle piece. Many manufacturers extend the protective coating to the sides of the flooring planks as well as the top and bottom.

Putting It All Together Again

The tongue and groove construction makes installation so easy that a complete novice can put down a new floor in a weekend afternoon. Some of the newer laminate floor products don't even require glue to get a virtually seamless floor. They just snap together and lock tight, making it possible to walk on your new floor as soon as you put it down. Picture perfect, years of wear and easy to install - the new generation of laminate floors are definitely worth a second look when you're looking for a new floor.

Keep Your House Design Simple Stupid

When it comes to home designs or house plans, it doesn't take a rocket scientist or a licensed architect to create one. If you're looking for any easy house plan design, you're about to read one of the most fascinating articles about keeping it simple stupid.

K.I.S.S. stands for," Keep It Simple Stupid." Some of the most successful people I've ever met throughout my entire life have kept everything as simple as possible. If you don't know how to design a home, learn, it's that simple.

If you want to build an architectural wonder, something that everyone on the planet is going to be envious of, there's a good chance this isn't going to fall into the keep it simple stupid category. A simple floor plan along with a simple building exterior, can create a pleasant looking house for anyone to live in.

Large windows create problems for heating and air-conditioning. Complicated exterior and roof designs create water leak problems. Tricky floor plans create problems for builders and contractors. Complicated and intricate home designs usually create problems, because we're getting out of that keeping everything simple mentality.

I love to look at nice homes that are created from simple designs. You can add some stuff here and there, but don't get away from the simplicity of home building. The best advice I can give anyone who is planning on building a home for themselves and has never built one before is to keep everything as simple as possible. Stray from this way of thinking and you could find yourself dealing with some difficult problems.

Shower Pan Installation Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

Shower pan installation the conventional way involves a lot of mortar work. There are several ways do-it-yourself tile setters, even pros, make mistakes. Some of these mistakes will result in a shower that fails soon and leaks with all the water damage you don't need. Here are several common mistakes and a method to side-step these problems.

Mistake 1: Not getting the sub-floor right.
A plywood subfloor is standard. You can build a shower over a concrete floor as well. No matter what the subfloor, the floor must be braced to take the weight of the shower. You don't want flexing of the base. That's a sure way to get a cracked tile floor.

Mistake 2: Not sloping the mortar base.
The shower base in built in layers. The first layer is masonry over which the liner is installed. That base should be sloped to help route all the water to the lower shower drain holes. That way the water doesn't build up above the pan with nowhere to go. A sloped shower base is necessary for the shower to drain properly.

Mistake 3: Not using deck mud.
Deck mud is Portland cement, sand and water. The proportions must be right. If you use mortar with extra lime, the mix will be too sticky to work and may be too hard to really get as flat as it should be. Deck mud must be right.

Mistake 4: Using the wrong liner.
The right liner is a PVC sheet that's actually built into the masonry floor. Some people are tempted to use no liner. Others think a cheap plastic shower bottom is a suitable base for tile. Neither is true. A waterproof liner is necessary for a leak proof shower.

Mistake 5: Not sealing the liner to the drain properly.
The actual liner forms a waterproof barrier within the shower floor. Critical is the seal of the drain to the membrane. The liner must be cut and fitted to the drain base and then glued to the base with the right adhesive. Get this right or you'll have leaks.

Shower pan installation using masonry is a proven way to build a shower that works for decades. However, it's easy to make mistakes that cause premature failures. There is a way to build a shower without so many potential problems. It's a newer technology and you don't even use masonry at all with some models. That's an easier way to a leak proof shower.

Decorating Town-House Halls - Part 2

Decorating Your Townhouse hallways in an elegant style helps it live up to the promises evoked from the outside. This second part of our two part series provides you with specific decorating ideas and suggestions for making the most of your townhouse hallway.

Style Pointers

WALLS

Golden yellow is a favorite town-house color, especially for creating a perpetually sunny hallway. Instead of genuine wainscoting, gray-striped wallpaper absorbs the brunt of the day-to-day scuffs. White-painted woodwork is typical of the town-house style.

FLOOR

Traditional black and white checkerboard tiles are virtually indestructible and easy to clean. A large coir doormat spares the floor from the full onslaught of dirty feet entering the house.

STORAGE

'A place for everything and everything in its place' is a useful motto for keeping an open path through the hall. An umbrella stand keeps wayward walking sticks and umbrellas under control. A coat stand or boot rack organizes hats, coats, and footwear in an equally efficient and stylish manner.

ACCESSORIES

Certain practical accessories are a necessity in a well-equipped hall. A large mirror, for example, has the dual advantage of making a narrow hallway seem wider and providing a last chance for a quick check on your appearance before going out. Plaster plaques hanging on wide black ribbons or a gallery of framed prints look suitably elegant. Flower arrangements are attractive and welcoming.

FURNITURE

To maintain free access through the hall, furniture is kept to a minimum. A discreet semi-circular console table, useful for leaving keys and mail, is fixed unobtrusively to the wall. A small chair may be useful when answering the telephone or changing shoes.

Furnishings

Furnishings: In the average household, the hall often ends up as a repository for items waiting to be moved elsewhere - everything from mail to discarded boots. Make a clean sweep of the clutter and find other places to keep essential gear stowed out of sight. This leaves space for a few well-chosen pieces to convey the sophistication of the town-house look and transform the hall from a passageway into a room with its own character and purpose.

Most halls are narrow, so hall furniture should be relatively compact and pushed back against the wall to allow free movement. A console table, fixed to the wall with just a pair of supporting legs at the front edge, provides an elegant punctuation point.

A pair of hall chairs is an added refinement. If the hall is wide enough, a small chest of drawers makes an effective substitute for a console table, with the bonus of providing a place to keep gloves, hats, and other items ready at hand.

Fittings: Radiators are a feature of many hallways, but although the warmth may be welcome, they are not particularly attractive to look at. By encasing a radiator in a boxed housing with a front grill or fretwork panel, you can hide the eyesore and gain a useful display surface.

Details: A fine mirror is an indispensable accessory for the town-house hall - the larger the better. Victorian overmantel mirrors or plain gilt frames are ideal for siting over a console table. If you position the mirror opposite the entrance to the main living areas, you set up internal views and create a good sense of spaciousness. Other traditional town-house features include brass umbrella stands, antique or reproduction barometers, and grandfather clocks.

Hall walls are excellent places for a display. You can treat the hall as a miniature picture gallery with framed prints, paintings, and drawings, massed in rows or groups. For a supremely stylish look, create your own print-room effect using cut-out photocopies of engravings applied directly to the wall.

For a final flourish, make good use of flower arrangements. Nothing looks more hospitable as you walk through the front door than a vase of fresh flowers.

Details

Keep space and practicality as well as town-house elegance in mind when selecting accessories for the hall. Period-style mirrors, small chairs, and compact console tables are all useful and enhance the setting at the same time. As tidiness is paramount for safe access to and from the house, hunt for neat storage ideas like an umbrella stand and a coat rack.

Colored Marble Tile Flooring For Your Bathroom

All throughout civilization, there has been no doubt of marble's eminence. One of the most popular places in the modern home for marble floor tiles is the bathroom.

Marble has retained its ranking as the supreme building material for vanities. A natural marble vanity or sink stands out as the one and only choice for many discriminating and aesthetically-inclined homeowners.

While marble has the characteristic of being etched and stained by water and chemicals, the use of modern sealants has significantly reduced this major risk. The stone that inspires poetry and has been used to create architectural wonders across the world is in fact a metamorphic rock, which was formed by the alteration of limestone or dolomite.

Marble is used for both interior & exterior flooring applications. Marble is available in many colors like milky white, red, black, mottled and banded, gray, pink and green. Some manufactures offer marble tiles in the form of green marble tiles, green marble slabs & green marble blocks

New Technologies Have Reintroduced Marble Tiles As Bathroom Vanities

A more recent advance in tile fabrication technology has enabled marble floor tiles to be within the reach of many homeowners. A sink could be a bowl of polished marble which sits atop a vanity. A tall faucet empties water into the vessel. It is a simple, yet supremely artistic way to decorate a bathroom that will make all your houseguests green with jealousy.

Marble tiles on the floor of a bathroom are almost a commonly seen necessity, if a homeowner's target is to create a luxurious bath. These tiles are available polished or honed. Honed tiles generally provide more traction. Polished tiles do provide a more elegant look, however they can be very slippery when wet, so bath mats need to be placed at strategic points in the bath or shower room.

Marble Could Also Be Used As A Shower Wall

Many professional interior decorators know the key to a luxuriously created bathroom is to utilize marble around the walls and the tub. Most Jacuzzi bath tubs and Roman tubs look far more elegant wrapped in stone. Marble is also a popular fixture in shower walls and in steam showers; again however, traction is a factor that need to be seriously taken into consideration.

Marble mosaic tiles are often used on shower floors, and the grout lines provide the necessary footing to prevent slipping.Hand-carved marble trim pieces are also good for use in framing bath mirrors, and a wide variety of marble accents will round off your ultimate dream bath.

Tumbled Marble Also Makes For A Rustic, Old-World Bathroom Feel

The current rise in the popularity of "tumbled marble" has seen an increased use in many homes. These rustic tiles look more like travertine, wherein they have a rough finish, and often have little pits full of crystal, as well as an an uneven edge which is usually rounded at the corners.

These varieties are available in many sizes and are good for backsplashes, showers, and flooring. The hand-carved look of these tiles helps provide an excellent method for counteracting the formal air which marble typically lends to a room.

While rugs like these were earlier patched together by grand moms as a tradition, by patching scraps of cloth into a colour patterns, the process has become professional in today's times.

Manufacturers of children's throw rugs for birthday presents now use the help of design specialists when it comes to manufacturing these rugs with carefully thought out patterns and static animations.
