Enclosed Beds
Paradoxically, enclosing a bed can add a sense of space and although this is hardly a new idea, it none the less remains and individual one. From medieval times, the enclosed bed was found in simple house across Europe; extremely practical it was built against a wall or within an alcove, sometimes with cupboard around it. Thus enclosed on three sides, the bed alcove was rendered entirely private during the day by means of curtain or sometimes a pair of shutters. Like many old ideas, this one still has numerous applications in the modern world a built in bed can be closed off, with or without the addition of storage space to either side or above and below, and placed either in its own room or within a larger living area.
The ultimate built-in bed must be one that is invisible. Beds that are made as one until and seen only when needed have developed in sophistication since the first days of the rolling truckle or folding camp bed that could be shoved into a cupboard. The wall hug bed has benefited greatly from modern technology, and today such beds can be found in many guises from the basic bed that simply pulls down, to the bed which come from as part of a modular, decorative storage unit. Although such units are rarely the sign terms the base surface that is visible to the room can usually be well disguised painted, decorated, hug with picture, or otherwise treated in manner that unites it with the rest of the room.

They are lightweight and very portable, providing easy transport anywhere you might need to use them. In addition, they are large enough to accommodate most body types, providing the widest range of benefits for dollar.
All Steel Construction - All steel folding chairs are perhaps the most ubiquitous variety. These chairs are constructed of high grade steel, have rubber or plastic feet for grip on the floor and can be found in a variety of different colors. In addition, you can find versions with padded seats and padded backs, providing greater comfort for your guests.
Polyethylene and Steel - Polyethylene is a high grade of plastic that stands up well to wear and tear. Polyethylene forms the back and seat of this type of chair, while steel is used for frame construction, providing greater stability and durability for the chair. Why an Extra Large Ottoman Tray is So Great
When it comes to relaxing in the living room, nothing is better than sitting on a nice and comfy sofa with your feet up. The problem is that sofas don't generally come with anything to put your feet on, so you are usually on your own as far as getting one goes. As pretty much any furniture expert will tell you, the best thing to do in this situation is to get yourself an extra large ottoman tray.
Ottomans have been around for decades, and are really nothing new and exciting. One thing has changed however, and now ottomans can do things that weren't possible years ago. One of those things is the ability to turn an ottoman into a serving tray. The way these pieces work is that they have a top that simply lifts off. Turn it over and replace it on the base, and you have yourself a very handy ottoman serving tray.
Since living room furniture can be expensive, most people want to get items that can used for multiple purposes. These days, ottomans are great because they can be used as a comfy footrest, a place to store magazines and other items that you want to keep close at hand, and as a serving tray. In fact, many people these days are doing away with a coffee table altogether, and simply using an ottoman for this purpose when needed.
If you are looking to purchase one of these great pieces of furniture, here are a few things to look for: First, make sure you get an ottoman that will match or complement your other furniture in the living room. Try to get a color that will match the sofa as closely as possible. The second thing to do is take a close look at the ottoman tray itself. Some of them are simple, and others are split into two or more sections. You can find ones that have built in handles as well, which comes in handy when you want to move the tray around.
Finally, one more thing to consider is the material that the ottoman will be made of. The vast majority of them are made from genuine leather. While these may look great, some people don't want to use leather, due to various personal reasons. Fortunately, you can also get ottomans that are made out of faux leather, which is a synthetic material. It looks and feels just like the real thing, but no cows were harmed in the process of making it.

Wash Stands in the Bathroom
Interior designing is all about latest trends and to keep changing according to the taste of people worldwide. In the recent past, bathrooms were not given much importance while designing houses, and used to be placed in one dark corner of the house meant only for functional purposes. But, today the trend is to maintain hygiene at each and every level, and thus bathrooms have not only gained importance but also become a style statement for houses.
It is common for people to judge a house by the look of the bathroom and thus if stuffs are littered all over the bathroom area, it creates a wrong impression on the minds of people. It is true that stuffs like toilet paper, towels, and soaps need to be there in the bathroom for regular use, but it impacts the style of the bathroom in a negative way.
Therefore, the need to use specific bathroom furniture such as floor cupboards must be present in the bathroom. It adds to the look, and also serves the purpose. Of all these vanity furniture, it is most important to have wash stands in the bathroom. This is because it can change the whole look of your bathroom. This is possible because it saves a considerable amount of space in the bathroom, and the fact that it is itself a masterpiece enhances the beauty of the whole area.
However, it is a difficult task to find the perfect wash stand in the bathroom. There are plenty of options available in the market, and this is what precisely makes the job tougher. The most important thing is to choose one that would be compatible with the look of the bathroom.
Therefore, the first objective is to choose the desired material for the bathroom wash stand. Wash stands in the bathroom are not merely for decorative purposes, but need to perform its basic utility and thus the material has to be chosen specifically according to the needs. Each and every bathroom stands of different material has its positives and negatives. While some of them are elegant looking, others are durable or water resistant or easy to maintain. The needs are to be assessed properly and then a choice has to be made on the material. Some of the popular materials used for the purpose are wood, melamine, etc.
Next, the finishing has to be looked into. Keeping aside the basic utility, the look matters a lot and the finishing would decide how the wash stand looks in the bathroom. Apart from finishing, the overall appearance and the durability need to be considered. It is often difficult to come to a trade-off between a chrome finished wash stand, which last longer, and the frosted finished one, which happens to be more elegant.
It is of no doubt that wash stands in the bathroom take the whole look to a whole new level. Therefore, one must be extremely cautious while buying wash stands, as it can make or break the whole getup of your dream bathroom.

Military Bunk Beds For Modern Bedrooms
Bunk beds are great space savers, and provide good comfortable sleeping for children and adults. But they can be different when used for different purposes or in different places. Military bunk beds are special, because this type of bunk bed is intended to be used in particular places like hospitals and military, Navy ships and submarines. They usually rather simple in a sense of decoration and configuration, but provide strong support and can last long.
The purpose behind these beds made them follow the path of satisfying the basic needs in the most optimal ways. Since they are primarily used in barracks or military camps, and in large quantities to provide soldiers with sleeping space, they can save space very effectively and also able to move easily.
The military fold-up bed can be one example of this type of beds. This bed can be placed on top of another bed with the aid of adapters, so at the end you will get complete fully functional bed.
Although the military bunk bed frames can be made from different materials like wood and metal, the metal frames are the most common since they require less maintenance and usually are lighter. Often these beds are constructed from parts, which make them very easy to move around. This is also the benefit of the metal military bunk beds.
If you plan to buy this type of bunk bed, you need to consider some things. First of all, keep in mind that these beds are not for the kids! They are sturdy - that's for sure, - but they are too simplistic, and provide you with just a basic comfort.
Next thing to note is that mattresses for these beds are sold separately, so you might need to spend some more money on them.
If you don't know where to start, go online - today many online stores offer some good range of bunk beds.
Before you buy anything, check the bed, examine all the joints, shake the already assembles set; try to find the bed that uses standard mattresses (otherwise you will face some difficulties in finding an appropriate mattress). Military bunk beds become popular today for their sturdiness and low maintenance cost; they provide reasonable comfort and are easy to assemble and move to any place you want.

Buying Second Hand Drums
The second hand drum market
Are you thinking of buying a set? Here are some tips on buying a good used drum set. Follow this advice and you won't be wasting your money.
First of all take your time in selecting a drum set. Have a look at the general condition of the drums themselves. Are the skins in good condition, no rips or tears, check the snare drum especially for this. Also check the snare release on the drum to see if it is working perfectly. You should be able to release and re apply the snare easily.
One other point, when the snare is released there should be absolutely no buzzing from the snare drum at all. It should sound like a tom tom.
After you have done this then the next thing you want to look at is the drum shells themselves. Ask if you can take off a head to see inside the drum.
See what material the drum shell is made of. If it is made of Maple or Birch timber you will note that these drums are heavier, than those shells made with ply wood or plastic.
Next move on to the drum hardware. Check the the drum lugs ie: the tensioners. Get a drum key and tighten each one. Just check to see if they all turn and are not rusted up.
Make sure that the drum lugs themselves are tight. You can or should be able to tighten each one with a spanner from the inside of the shell.
When you are satisfied that all this is in order now it is time to check more hardware.
This includes the floor stands for the snare drum, the cymbal stands and the high hat stand. If the chrome on them is all nice and shiny, OK your checks are done on this.
Make sure that the high hat pedal works and moves the top cymbal up and down and is nice and easy to use. One tip here is that I have found that some high hat stands tend to move around and sometimes out of reach of your foot. Check the grips on the bottom of the stand. If they have hardly any grip then try placing the stand on a carpet to give more anchor. Some drummers actually place a rubber stop into the floor to overcome this problem.
When you are satisfied with this item, try assembling the drums into kit form and getting them arranged into the playing position you are comfortable with.
One part of the drum kit I have not mentioned yet is the bass drum pedal. Here this is one item you want to spend as much money as you possibly can. The better the quality pedal you buy the better it will perform and will be easier to play.
Just try using the tip of your foot on the pedal to strike it. See how fast you can operate and how easy and less tiring the pedal works. Personal preference is the key to buying a drum pedal.
If you quite satisfied so far, then go ahead and haggle on the price, or get a cymbal case thrown in for good measure. If your funds extend to getting a set of cases to keep your drums in then so much the better. It will pay dividends in the long term. The same thing applies to cymbals, get a case for them. Also get a stick case to hold your drum sticks and brushes. Well worth it.
Drum manufacturers that have excellent reputations are Ludwig, Yamaha, Pearl, Premier, Sonor, Gretch, Trixon ( although not manufactured any more ) but second hand sets are available. Go for the best sounding drums in the best condition and try for Maple or Birch shells. Bets of luck in your search.

Indoor Benches - Where Chairs Just Won't Do
When you are decorating your house you may run into a situation where you need some sort of seating option but can't find quite the right chair for the job. Perhaps the reason for this is that there isn't a chair for the job. There are a lot of places in the house where you may want somewhere to sit but a chair just will not fit the bill. So what do you do? Well in this case it's time to get to know indoor benches a little better.
When most people think of benches they just think of outdoor furniture. But there are a lot of benches out there that can serve a number of purposes in your home. Additionally, they are made out of all sorts of materials. From wood to wicker and various types of metal and plastic, you won't have a problem finding benches that suit whatever decorative style and theme you have in place in your house. So, let's look at some of the places you may want to consider putting indoor benches.
Clearance
One of the first times you may notice that you need benches instead of chairs is where there is no clearance for chairs. For example, many people have breakfast nooks in their home. Often they like to put a table here that they can sit down at and have breakfast while looking outside. But sometimes, the sill of the window will keep banging on the back of the chair that's put in the breakfast nook. Instead, small benches can be put in this space and give plenty of room to sit with out constantly damaging the wall or windowsill.
Kids
If you have a lot of kids in the house, it's sometimes a waste of space to have a big chair for each child to sit at around the table. After all, their body doesn't even take up half of it. Instead, why not bring in a couple of benches. You can easily double a couple kids up on a bench and save a lot more space to put more chairs or benches around the table.
Small Spaces
If you are trying to figure out how to make the most of the small space where you need a seating area, benches may be something you're about to fall in love with. One of the great things about benches is that they don't take up the space of chairs in the area of armrests and overall floor space that is being occupied by them. This way, you can seat more people in a tight area than you would be able to with just chairs alone.
There are plenty of places in your home where indoor benches can help you maximize the seating options that you can offer your family and your guests. It's about time that you learn that benches aren't just for the garden anymore. Enjoy finding out how they can not only dress up a space to offer you more room as you use them in your décor.

A World of Furniture in Hyderabad
What you see - Nestled in a corner of a building that's still being constructed, you wouldn't know how to find Furniture World, Hyderabad. You will come across its richer cousin Alqove, which specializes in antique and designer furniture. Explore a little more and you will realize that it resides on the top four floors of the building. Each floor at Furniture World is attributed to a section; for instance, one floor caters to dining and crockery sets, another deals with cots and bedroom accessories and so on.
What you get - Being indecisive will not help you here. Starting from the 7th floor, all the four floors here have a lot of variety to confuse you. There are dining table sets on the 7th floor, mostly made of teak or chrome plated metal with glass tops. A six-seater teak table with a glass top and carved legs will cost Rs. 30,000 and if you like more of ornate carvings it can go up to Rs. 60,000. A metal dining table is priced at Rs. 12,600 here and an oakwood table about Rs. 36,900.
Most of these tables have glass tops, but a few with marble tops are also on show. One of the interesting finds here is a red and black table set with curvy designs and artificial leather chairs for Rs. 27,900. They also have a compact 4-seater dining set, which looks more like a huge box - good to serve your family quick meals in the kitchen.
From the dining room, let's move to the bedroom, which is on the floor below. Most of the cots are either of teakwood or MDF (medium density fiber). A double cot (5 x 6.5) is priced at Rs. 9,000 and a master bed (6 x 6.5) at Rs. 15,000. They also offer bedroom sets which include a cot, a side table, two wardrobes and a dresser. If you opt for a queen size bed it would come up to Rs. 40,000 and with a master bed it would be Rs. 63,000. A pretty find here was a smiley bed. With smileys carved on the headboard and footboard, it is a good piece for the kids' room. This would cost Rs. 19,500 and can be easily dismantled. It also has storage space beneath.
Then for relaxation you have comfy sofas on the 5th floor. The base is usually teak, they claim. The cushion is made of foam and polyfil and is washable. A 3+1+1 set would approximately cost Rs. 18,000 here. They also have corner sofa sets and lounge sofa sets. The colors are mostly dull except for the use of a peachy shade on a few. Leather sofa sets are also available here. They have crockery shelves too from Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 30,000. Then there are center tables and side tables too. One of the side tables that caught our attention had its stand decorated with stars and a planet, in bright yellow and shimmering blue.
You could also check out TV cabinets (basic or with a rotating top piece). The basic one would cost Rs. 4,500 but there are some that even go up to Rs. 40,000. That's not all. They have a study table for children too with a clock and two small shelves on each side, priced at Rs. 1,999. For nursery children, they have tiny car-shaped table sets too. They have cushioned rocking chairs also here priced at Rs. 12,999 apart from shoe racks and computer tables.
This place hardly offers any seasonal discounts. But they usually have their clearance sale either in November or in February.
The verdict - They have almost every piece of furniture that you would need for your home. Prices are more or less reasonable. The staff has the numbers and other facts on finger tips. One thing that you may have to check though is the finishing of some sofas. Furniture World has parking space available.

What Are Speaker Stands?
Setting up a high quality sound system in the home will take quite a bit of planning. Starting out with the audio equipment, you could spend weeks researching the ideal media players, receivers, amplifiers and pre-amps. Getting the right sound out of a turntable is also an essential element in the process. For the true audiophile, the search is going to be well worth it. Once a hi-fi rack is in place to hold all of the equipment, it is time to turn to the speaker system.
Selecting speakers is a whole other issue for deliberation. The quality of the sound will come down to how well the speakers do their job. However, there is an important part of the equation that many people overlook - on what do the speakers rest? If they are sitting on the ground, speakers will create vibrations that are bound to interfere with the enjoyment of the music. In the old days, this interference was common. Speaker stands became the solution by the 1980s, when aficionados realized that they could eliminate this problem by mounting speakers onto stands with dampening technology.
Back then, things were just getting started. Even the most advanced technicians had no way of knowing how far speaker stands would come in the future. The good news is audiophiles are not a new breed, and the technology has been advancing ever since. One important realization was that placing the tweeter of the speaker at the eye (i.e., ear) level of the listener improved projection dramatically. Today, great speaker stands all have these four things in common.
1. Sturdiness. A great speaker stand should be rock-solid and heavy. Any sense of movement will be exploited by sound coming from the speakers. The idea is to isolate all of this and come up with a blank space - a void - upon which the speakers will rest. If they are difficult to move and impenetrable, they have the stuff great stands are made on. Don't try the resistance test with a bare hand; quality stands will leave a deep bruise.
2. Lack of resonance. The bottom line is speaker stands are meant to create a sonic vacuum. Compared to typical furniture or the floor, the choice is quite obvious, but all stands are not up for the task. For anyone who is new to the effect speaker stands can have on a sound system, it may take a little time to appreciate the difference between different stand designs. Fortunately, there are a number of audiophiles happy to help out.
3. Easy to set up. Like anything else that requires assembly in the home, speaker stands will take a bit of work to be up and running properly. If setting stands up for the very first time, ask for some help from a friend who has been through the process before. Some users find sand to be the preferred form of dampening device for filling the columns of the stands. Others have suggested something with a rockier texture, like the material used for kitty litter. It will be worthwhile to experiment with both.
4. A great look. Never to be underestimated is the look a speaker stand will bring to the home. As the hi-fi system will be central to any room where guests are being entertained, speaker stands should be at least somewhat attractive. The good news is the stand does not have to be seen. There is little depth to any speaker stand, so they will never be in the way of any design. Putting any seating in front of the speakers is ill-advised, of course, but the options don't end there.
Other Concerns with Speaker Stands
Once the primary concerns with speaker stands are satisfied, there will be a few other issues to address. One of the most important is the floor-to-stand connection. Typically, a stand will have spikes connected to the floor which are intended to cut down further on vibrations. In fact, most of the individual audio components may have smaller versions of these on which they rest in hi-fi racks. The same principle applies: the more isolation, the better.
Some studies suggest that these spikes may not always serve as the ideal means for isolation. Spikes of poor design could even increase the level of vibrations. How can one tell the difference? On some levels, it may be an unattainable goal. However, one way is to test the stand with more pliable extensions (i.e., rubberized). By creating a soft landing place for the speaker stand, fewer vibrations may result. On the other hand, experts have found that a light amount of movement may end up producing a superior sound. The movement caused by the spikes in effect grounds any vibrations and does the job.
The other spot which needs proper isolation on a speaker stand is where the speaker itself rests. Cones are usually the means for separating the speakers from the stand's platform. In most cases, these cones have been designed with the right approach and handle the job adequately. Nonetheless, for the beginner it is an important element to consider. If a cone ends up channeling more vibrations than it isolates, it is a counterproductive accessory.
Finally, there is the element of the impact of the stand on the floor itself. Since speaker stands are heavy objects, spikes can end up digging into the floor over time. If there are carpets in the room, the likelihood will rise. Hardwood floors may become indented as well but -- the added depth of sound being the main goal -- the best approach is to choose a spot carefully and keep the stands in the same position. The narrowest spikes will probably not be noticed. Another option is to use a receptor between the floor and the spike.
In the end, there are far more benefits to using speaker stands than any minor drawbacks might spoil. In fact, the hi-fi system many audiophiles dream of will not be complete without them. With all of the options on the market today, there is no budget that can't be accommodated.

Wash Stands and Designer Bathroom Furniture
In recent times, the bathroom has started to come into its own, from being just a functional space to a statement. Not just to the world, but to yourself. Creating that perfect oasis in the bathroom seems to be the goal nowadays, but this is easier said than done. With no time on our hands, keeping the bathroom clutter free is a difficult task. Little things like towels, toilet paper, soap and shampoo littered about the place really doesn't appeal to the eye. With no place to put them, people are presented with quite a dilemma.
With this problem in mind, several designers have taken up the challenge to find a solution that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The result is designer bathroom furniture. From vanity units and vanity sets, to floor cupboards and wall hanging cupboards to wash stands, there are a plethora of options out there to choose from.
Vanity units are a great way to utilize space. They epitomize designer bathroom furniture, and are usually crafted in beech or white. The options are unlimited, with either single units, or combined units being the most obvious choices. A vanity unit combined with a basin is also a great way to save space. These pieces of designer furniture are easy to install, look great, and are easy to maintain. If you don't have a very spacious bathroom, a large vanity unit is not very flattering to your space. It makes the bathroom small and cramped. To avoid this, a great piece of designer bathroom furniture is a bathroom cupboard hung off the wall. The furniture is perfect for storage, and also frees up ground for other uses. Cleaning the bathroom also becomes easier minus the obstacle, as does reaching all your items stored in the cupboard.
Another great way to utilize space is to use a corner vanity set. Having a circular bathroom is rather unlikely, so if your bathroom isn't very large, a corner vanity set is a perfect way to mesh style with functionality. Obviously, while purchasing designer bathroom furniture, vanity units aren't restricted just to basins. You can purchase a vanity unit combined with almost every other requirement in your bathroom, from mirrors and lighting fixtures to water closets. There is no dearth of options when one is looking to buy designer bathroom furniture.
The ultimate style statement that speaks volumes about your taste, and can really add class to the bathroom is a wash stand. The right wash stand, though hard to find, can turn your bathroom from an eyesore to a masterpiece. Options are plenty when looking to buy a wash stand. First, pick the material you want, as they all have their merits and demerits. Some look better, while some are more durable, some are more water resistant, while some are easier to clean. Wood, acrylic, melamine etc are only some of your choices. The finishing on a wash stand also plays a big role in both, its appearance, and its durability. Plated or chrome finished last longer, but don't look as appealing as a brushed or frosted finish.
With millions of options to pick from, look long and hard, because you are sure to find the right piece of designer bathroom furniture, to turn your bathroom from an annoyance, to the nicest part of the house.

The Three Golden Rules For Saving Money on Renovations and Home Improvements
I've never been the boastful sort. But on the subject of the renovation of my formerly rickety-rackety old cottage I make an exception.
Much as I might well be physically wrecked, beholding the fruits of my labours each day fills me with a sensation of warm smugness. Furthermore, I now consider myself eminently qualified to dish out advice on the cost of building work to anyone who stands still for long enough. And that includes octogenarian Carmelite nuns.
I have come to the conclusion that there are only a handful of reasons why anyone should overspend on a home improvement project. Most obvious of these, of course, is the unforeseen structural problem. But more often than not it's down to letting imbeciles loose with chequebooks.
Moreover, many people have little or no interest in construction or DIY. Instead, they hand over vast amounts of money to total strangers having blithely accepted whopping estimates without question.
So, if you're considering your own 'grand design', but get the jitters about the potential cost, here are my Three Golden Rules (of which the third is the most important).
Rule Number 1: Be Nice...
Let's say you need a powerful SDS drill for one little job but don't actually own such a device. Your first option is to purchase the required tool, but that will set you back a fair few pennies thus making the hole you need to create one of the most expensive orifices known to humanity. Alternatively, you might know of someone locally who already possesses the aforementioned implement and ask them if you can borrow it for ten minutes.
The second option is, of course, the most economical. And the most time saving. But if you've been a miseryguts all your life then the chances of anyone lending you rat poison - let alone an expensive power tool - is extremely slim.
Cheerful and generous people get cheerfulness and generosity in return, and those of decent character will almost always receive advice, offers of help and even materials that others don't need but have lying around at home. It's a sort of construction karma: what goes around comes around.
Furthermore, if you're employing the services of a skilled tradesman and spend half of the time bellyaching and being inhospitable, do you really expect they'll pull out all the stops to help?
Rule Number 2. Have a go...
While a few people are so incompetent they shouldn't be entrusted to go to the lavatory by themselves, most are capable of well over half of the required work even if they don't realise it. Read expert guidebooks and building regulations, and never be afraid to ask for advice.
Naturally, leave the specialist jobs you really don't think you can successfully undertake to the experts (especially those requiring qualifications such as electrical rewiring). Much as I might like to have a bash at thatching, I know that half of it would end up in Berkshire after the first breath of wind. And I live in Cornwall.
DIY is much more than nailing up a shelf. It can be anything from foundations to ridge tiles and pretty much everything in between.
Rule Number 3. Have no cash to spend...
Set yourself a ridiculously tiny budget to work with - one so unfeasibly inadequate that anyone with even a passing interest in building collapses in hysterics. Then halve it.
Having very little money sharpens the mind when it comes to purchasing. In fact, I wouldn't allow anyone else to do the sourcing on my behalf unless I knew them personally and trusted them implicitly.
Don't get me wrong, this isn't a sideswipe at tradesmen. To me, a first-class bricklayer or joiner is the equal of a surgeon or barrister. And far superior if you're caught up in a pub riot. But half of them have no interest in budgeting because they merely want to get on with the job. And who can blame them?
Letting someone whack everything on their big builders' merchants account is akin to lending your Aston Martin DB9 to a plastered youth. Sure, some items will be cheaper than elsewhere, but nowhere near all of them - never overlook the smaller independent merchants who are often much more competitive than the big guns.
Other recommendations include undertaking painstaking online research, scouring the classifieds in the local paper, and keeping an ear out for anyone who might be getting rid of the stuff you need. In effect, do everything short of becoming a kleptomaniac.
Auctions can be good, too. But be wary of those of interest to the trade. I went to a couple during the course of my own project and left flabbergasted on both occasions. Never in my life have I witnessed such a boneheaded willingness to pay over the odds on everything from insulation to rusty nails. I'm absolutely certain I could have sold a bag of grass cuttings.
Finally, buy what you need in advance when the opportunity arises. For example, my local DIY superstore recently had a clearance of sockets and switches. However, if I bought them today I'd have to shell out 80% more. Do this type of pre-purchasing often enough on a big project and you'll save thousands.

OmniMount Speaker Stands
There are many great OmniMount speaker stands to choose from, but the most popular two are the OmniMount Gemini and EL0, which we will describe below. All in all, this is one of the favorite speaker stand brands, which beats many of their competitors both, by price and value.
OmniMount Gemini
This is probably the most favored model. They are affordable and attractive. The units have 4 interchangeable base inserts, making it easy to match them with most designs (you can match with your television stand or anything else in the room). They also have a beautiful finish. These stylish and functional stands can accommodate any large bookshelf speakers. The wires are hidden in thick tubes, and plastic caps will hold the wires at the base. They are easy to assemble - they come with one of the easiest to follow instruction manuals. All you need is a screwdriver and pliers (for the wires).
These stands have carpet spikes included, a wide base, and wide speaker platform, making them sturdy and safe for your speakers. The weight of bookshelf speakers creates a steady base, and the stand will not wobble. They can handle the weight of some of the heaviest speakers. Their height can be adjusted either to 25" or 32" from the floor (the recommended height for bookshelf speakers is 30-33").
OmniMount EL0
This is the second popular option for front/surround speakers. It's a floor-standing mount with an attractive high-gloss black finish; it's made of tempered glass (base) and steel. This unit is also easy to assemble. It has an adjustable height. It's stable on carpet with its rubber feet and a large glass base. It has a cable management system to accommodate a 14 gauge wire. These OmniMount speaker stands have 3 mounting options.

Laptops and Laptop Stands
Are you sitting comfortably?
1. Screen too close
2. Screen not high enough (looking down)
3. Keyboard uncomfortable
4. Pointing device awkward
More and more people due to the cost of laptops coming down are now having problems with the way they work with them. This is due to the way that they are built with the screen, keyboard and pointing device all connected, great for portability but not good for the back, arms and eyes. Most people buy an external mouse which makes it more comfortable to use but not many people buy any other accessories such as an external keyboard or laptop stand. By getting an external keyboard you are then able to move the screen away from you making it easer on the eyes and with a laptop stand you can then bring your screen up to a great working height.
It is a paradox that people don't buy these accessories when they get there laptop, you wouldn't by a television with out a stand and just place it on the floor, would you?
It is amazing that with laptops being so common the work place of today that there is no legislation that is specific to the use of laptops in the working environment there are areas of health and safety regulations which can be applied to the use of VDU screens and also the use of keyboards.
During the next few years we will be getting more and more problems from people using laptops in the wrong posture, and we are just starting to see large companies asking questions about the health and safety aspects of using laptops for any length of time. The answer to these problems is not an expensive one for either large or small companies or individuals for as little as £70.00 including vat you can get a portable laptop stand with keyboard and mouse (wire less).
Considering all the press that there was a few years ago regarding RSI when companies where taken to court and made to pay massive amounts of money to some of their employees, it seem ridicules that this problem has not been highlight more in the press.
We are now find that some very large companies purchasing laptop stand and keyboards for there mobile work force and for the home workers where they can say that they have given there work force all the tools to get them into a comfortable position and keep them within H & S regulations.
So what is needed is for ALL laptop users to be aware and educated in the problems that laptops can give you with long term use especially for young where there back and necks are still developing.
Don't get me wrong the laptop is a fantastic tool used in the correct manor. this means using a laptop stand and separate keyboard which both need to be portable the same as the laptop.

Ranch House Floor Plan - American Casual Living Homes
The ranch house floor plan is a shining example of the American Dream in its purest form. It was then, and remains today, the most widely built housing style ever seen in America. This house plan style had its heyday from 1949 to 1965 for several reasons.
Prevailing loan programs of the day made getting a home loan with no money down easier than it ever had been in previous years. Soldiers returning from World War II wanted to settle down and begin raising families. With the demand for homes at an all time high, the simple form and lack of detail made the ranch house floor plan much faster to build than a stately Tudor style home. Formal foyers and spiral staircases were discarded and replaced by level entries and single story plans.
The availability and increasing popularity of the automobile also defined the heyday of the ranch house floor plan. For the first time, the garage was moved to the front of the home. This was the first generation of home owners to have a highly prized freedom and mobility to work and shop in the city and then retreat to the suburbs to live. Because the suburbs removed the need to build houses close together, lots became increasingly larger and the square footage of the average house floor plan expanded accordingly. Ranch house floor plans generally accentuated the width of the lot.
The informal lifestyle of California became popular as early as the late 1940s and magazines began to promote casual living as the ideal. Influences such as courtyards, patios and other Spanish colonial architectural details were embraced and played upon. What was known as the front porch or veranda, was moved from the front to the back of the house and heralded the arrival of a significant lifestyle change. Families now preferred the privacy of their back yard rather than sitting on the front porch watching traffic.
Americans believed that technological advances helped win the Second World War and launch was was to become known as the Space Age. Innovative designs such as the all electric home were supposed to make housework a thing of the past. Realizing the dream of space travel was on the horizon as well and home owners wanted a housing style that was reflective of the new modern era. Synthesized versions of Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie style ranch house floor plan became very popular in more well to do areas.
The ranch house floor plan was the American Dream in a box from the late 1940s to the mid 1960s. Sliding glass doors, kidney shaped swimming pools and back yard patios created a new informal way of entertaining guests. Though the ranch house floor plan was the embodiment of casual living, most homes of that era lacked architectural details that would make them memorable. By the 1970s, the ranch style house was replaced by the split level home with Colonial or English details. The 1980s saw a reversal of the ranch house floor plan formula that included showy front entries with grand staircases and vaulted ceilings while the back of the house was left almost naked. The only remains of the ranch house floor plan today are the open floor plans, great rooms and hearth kitchens and the current popular trend of an outdoor room. All leftovers from the original ranch style housing era.

Guide to Accommodation in South Africa
Are you interested in South Africa as a holiday destination? If so you will need to know about the kinds of accommodation that is available. There are many types of accommodation, hotels, guest houses, bush lodges, spas, bed and breakfasts, tented camps, boat houses, game lodges to name but a few!!!!
In the major cities there are many 5 star hotels which will be able to cater to every wish and desire of their guests, but also there is a high quality of service offered from the smaller guest houses, which have a much cosier feel and offer what some would call a more peaceful environment! If you wish to get back to nature and stay in the wilds of Africa, there is an awful lot to choose from. South Africa is brimming with camp site, in which you can stay in your tent, caravan or motor home, these have either floor stands or you can have a power socket too. Safari Tents are also a popular and affordable accommodation type, these are just permanent tents with single beds inside, and they are incredibly comfy and give all the excitement of camping without the hassle of putting up and taking down!
The opposite end of the spectrum from camping is probably the luxury game lodges that are available across the country. These lodges are incredibly luxurious, with the best of everything available. The best of these lodges offer amazing wildlife viewing and many often have a deck over a waterhole or other game viewing area, where you can relax on your veranda, with a glass of South African red wine in your hand and watch the Big 5 in there natural habitat.
What ever type of accommodation you chose to stay in while in South Africa, you are sure to have an enjoyable and comfortable holiday in this beautiful country.

Those Moments in Life When Time Stands Still Are Treasures
Those moments in life when time stands still are treasures
Most people, at some point in their lives, can recall moments, when however fleeting, life seemed good, and at least for that moment, time stood still and life was good. As we recall those soothing moments from the cobwebs of our cerebral databases, we sometimes yearn to return to that time and to make time stand still again.
Robert Browning ends his poem, Pippa's Song, with the words, "God's in His heaven, all's right with the world." Everything's as it should be. The line evokes feelings of serenity and security. We associate the poem and Browning's lines with tranquility. For me, one of the most tranquil moments in my life occurred in April, 2006, when my son and I vacationed in Alaska. Neither of us had ever been before and we were both eager to wear ourselves out basking in this winter wonderland. On our last hiking day we drove to a small remote park outside Anchorage to see a glacier. Four inches of snow had tucked in the sleeping landscape the night before. It was early morning, just as the sun was popping over the mountains. We parked our car and trudged down a narrow path to the lake. As the trees parted we saw the frozen lake and glacier in front of us. I grabbed Quentin's arm.
"Listen." I said. "What do you hear?"
"Nothing," he said.
"Exactly?"
The only sound was our solitary chatter. No bird calls echoed. No tree branches swayed. No deer searched for food. The fresh snow betrayed no fresh tracks, other than those made by our boots. We were alone. All was still. All was right with the world. We were, at once, literally frozen in time (the temperature was 4°).
Standing in the fresh, cold snow we both captured the moment with our Kodaks. Thin reed-like branches rose from their winter abode and helped form the border of our majestic tableau. Behind the branches still-green pine triangles mingled with the branches and jutted into the crisp Alaskan air. Behind the pines, and visible through them, a wide swath of ice, which is a river nine months out of the year, meandered through the countryside and disappeared behind more lofty pines further upstream. Above the river bed white, snow-covered peaks wrapped around the glacier, as if to comfort and provide shelter for the glacier that had carved its own path across the centuries. And above it all was a flawless, brilliant, crystal-blue Alaskan sky. We stood completely still and silent for what seemed like hours soaking up the awe and wonder of this timeless tableau in front of us.
On the way home from our vacation in Alaska my son and I were chatting about our trip. We both agreed that our Kodak moment in the glacier park was the highlight of our trip. We both agreed that the next best highlight was a distant second. Today, almost four years later, my son and I both affectionately recall our moment in time when God was in His heaven and all was right with the world. Folks who experience those priceless moments when all seems right in their world cherish those moments, recall them with affection, preserve them in their hearts and minds. Those moments are always refreshing to revisit.
I go back often to that cold, wintry glacier park my son and I visited on our last day of hiking in Alaska. I don't vacation there. I go back in my mind. The temperature outside doesn't register. The bitter cold of the Kodak moment isn't part of the trip. What draws me back to that place is the silence and the breathtaking landscape where, for a flicker, time stood still and all was right with the world. LCD and Plasma Floor Stands
LCD and plasma television are now incredibly popular with millions of them being sold each year around the world. Because their light weight and sleek design many people prefer to hang them from the wall however for those who prefer to use floor based stands it can be difficult to identify the stand which best suits your needs. However, this guide will provide you with all the information you will ever need.
First and foremost LCD and plasma televisions are much thinner than old CRT televisions so the options available are much wider and the technological advancements now include inbuilt speakers and even fully 360 rotation plates. Stands which feature inbuilt speakers are commonly targeted at people who play console games regulary whilst swivel plates are designed for people who use their television within a large open plan living room. Enable them to watch the television fro where ever they are in the room.
The most popular form of floor standing LCD and plasma TV stands features a highly lacquered oak structure complete with glass shelves which make the DVD player and other accessories appear as though they are floating in thin air. This are also commonly designed in a corner aspect which places the TV in the corner of the room which provides a viewing angle for everyone in the room along with making a feature of an area of the room which as traditional been very difficult to fill and decorate.
The price of floor standing television stands can vary massively depending on the quality and mixture of the materials. The features and functionality will also make a large impact. For example speaker and swivel stands will cost far more than a simple pine stand which include a single top and bottom shelf. These units are considered budget shelves and are commonly used within student accommodation and in childrens bedrooms.
In summary, thanks to the development of thin televisions their has been a big explosion in the popularity of modern floor standing LCD and plasma television stands. These stands are available in wide range of materials with some also including functional features such as built in speakers and swivel plates. The value of the stand can also vary massively from £50.00 right through to £500.00.

Toothbrush Stands - Don't Stand For Gross Toothbrushes
Some people prefer to place their toothbrushes in cups, but eventually they'll find a murky mix of past plaque and old water sitting at the bottom, sullying the tip of the handle. That's a popular choice, sure, but surely there are other toothbrush display options that won't lead to curiously shaded standing water, right? Well, some people have built in, molded toothbrush holders as a part of their bathroom vanity, but all too often toothbrush handles are too thick for the un-budging toothbrush slot mold. I've personally seen many toothbrushes fall to their untimely death at the hands of a too-small-to-fit toothbrush molding. Let's explore some more options.
Though rare, it's been documented that ever-so-occasionally someone will place a paper towel around the head of the toothbrush, acting as a steel curtain to germs and grime. My question is, does the paper towel get changed every time? Doubtful. That is, undeniably, gross - and probably grosser than had there been no paper towel involved. Moving on.
Some people think that the plastic, snap-clamp cap that comes with many toothbrushes with the goal of housing the delicate toothbrush bristles is a good idea. Wrong. This only suffocates the bristles and breeds damp-conditions accelerated germs. Remember when we were talking about the mysterious water down at the bottom of your toothbrush holding cup? Well imagine that same water on the head of your toothbrush...yeah, it's that gross.
What if there was some sort of toothbrush stand that not only held your toothbrush firmly upright and out of harms way, but also looked attractive enough to display out in the open? That product has, in fact, arrived. Today you can find quality toothbrush stands and holders that can even double as a place to keep your razor, or any other toiletry item you need vertical storage for. Finding a stand for your toothbrush is, actually, more vital than you might think. The germs that accumulate on a toothbrush when they are not stored properly, or are subject to warm, damp conditions can be immense in number. Storing your toothbrush, or even razor, in a dry, compact place is ideal for keeping your bathroom tools their freshest.

Dining Room Chair Cover Fabric Comparison
A dining room chair cover is an affordable decorative item that can help you change the look of your dining room in minutes. The modern-day covers come in all sorts of colours and fabrics, allowing anyone to achieve the exact look and feel that they want to have in their dining room. In this article, we will discuss two of the most popular materials used in the making of these products, and how to choose the one that would fit you best.
The two most common materials used for dining room covers are cotton and polyester. Each of these fabrics has its advantages and drawbacks, and each one requires different care.
Today, cotton is the most abundantly used textile. It's used for clothes, bed linens, as well as for upholstery and covers. A dining room chair cover made of cotton will have a distinct look and feel of a natural fabric, it will be easy to care for, as well as it can "breathe", which is considered healthy. The main issues with cotton: it's not stain-resistant, it's not flexible, and it's prone to wrinkling. Thus, you may have to wash your covers quite often and then iron them after washing.
The second popular option is polyester. This is a synthetic material made of petroleum derivatives. Its advantages include: stain-resistant, wrinkle-resistant, and flexibility. Polyester itself may not be that flexible. However, polyester spandex blends (with around 5-10% spandex) are so flexible that they fit like a glove on furniture. These blends may stretch up to 30% of their original size. Thus, if you are looking for something that would not soil for a long time, and that would not require ironing once washed, a dining room chair cover made of polyester may be better than that made of cotton.
Taking care of these two materials is also different. Cotton will not become damaged by high temperatures, such as when washing or ironing. Moreover, you can use almost any type of detergent on it. The fabric will neither fade, nor shrink or stretch. Polyester, on the other hand, requires being very careful with the temperature and detergents. It's recommended to wash it in cold water, and use steam rather than an iron for getting out any wrinkles that may form occasionally. Also make sure to use the mildest detergents on it. If you follow the aforementioned suggestions, both cotton and polyester will serve you well for years to come.
As mentioned above, the best point about a dining room chair cover is its affordability. When purchasing a new chair, many people are hesitant to choose bright colours, as they may get soiled or fade easily. Thus, you may have always wanted to purchase black or white chairs for your dining room but didn't do so, because you were thinking about how fast the white will turn grey, and how soon the black will fade. If you use covers on the chairs, you can totally unleash your imagination. You can use white covers today, black tomorrow, and red the day after. In fact, you can change covers every season, or have special items for the holidays.

Kennedy Museum - Celebrate the Life of a Legendary Figure
The Kennedy museum in Dallas or the Sixth floor Museum in Dealey Plaza stands out as a prime attraction signifying the life and untimely death of a much loved American President. Though the museum arouses a profound sadness in many who visit the site, it was constructed with the objective of celebrating the life of this legendary figure. This has become successful as many describe visiting the museum as an overwhelming experience.
The museum was built on the sixth floor as it was the same floor from which Lee Harvey Oswald shot the president. The permanent exhibits of the museum are displayed under many themes. The Early 1960's consists of an introduction and details of the political events and lifestyles of that period. Other exhibits are displayed accordingly under relevant themes such as The Trip to Texas, The Corner Window, and The Crisis Hours etc.
The museum also has a valuable artifact collection and archive materiel which was collected at various phases of the President's crisis. The Parkland Hospital Collection has all the original medical records and autopsy records of the President while the Tom Dillard collection consists of original negatives of photographs of the president and Mrs Kennedy, Marina Oswald and Oswald's two daughters. These images have not been published and can only be viewed at the Kennedy Museum. Other collections include the Dallas Time Herald Collection, Julia Knecht Collection and the KDFV, KTVT and WFAA collections. All these 22, 000 items consist of books, newspapers, photographs, magazines, video and audio tapes, and other documentary materials.
An array of hotels in Dallas near the Kennedy Museum provides easy access to this key attraction which should not be missed. As described by many it would be an inspiring and a profound experience signifying a journey back to the past.
